The Ford Center is located in the beautiful western Upper Peninsula of Michigan. In 1954 the Ford Motor Company donated 1700 acres, which included the historic village of Alberta, to Michigan Tech. Today the Center occupies 5,500 acres and consists of a conference center, research forest and the historic village of Alberta and sawmill museum.
The Center is located just 42 miles south of Houghton, the site of Michigan Tech, on US 41. The Center is also conveniently located just 10 miles from the shores of Lake Superior. Situated in the middle of a vast and diverse forest makes the Ford Center the ideal year-round location for research, educational/technical trainings, business workshops, meetings or reunions. The Center can lodge up to 110 participants in a variety of settings. Complete food service is available with tasty menu options. Please use the buttons on the sidebar to find more detailed information.
Features of the property include Lake Plumbago, Canyon Falls, and a research forest. Research into sustainable forestry has been conducted on the property since 1954. Beside the recreational hall, other on site activities include year-round fishing, canoeing, basketball, volleyball, tennis and horseshoes
