Forestry Ford Alberta Project fund provides unrestricted funds for general use at the Ford Forestry Center.
Forestry and Environmental Resource Management (The FERM) Program
The FERM is an innovative, hands-on opportunity in undergraduate applied ecology and forestry education. This residency-type, forestry enterprise program provides valuable experience as multi-level teams of students plan, implement, and oversee actual conservation-oriented management on portions of the School's 5,500 acre forest. In this one-of-a-kind program students gain real-world experience as they learn and realize the lasting impacts that their investments of time and energy have for themselves, the School, the community, and the lands.
Hammer's Endowed Field Equipment Fund
Hammer’s Endowed Field Equipment Fund purchases equipment that is used in the process of meeting the SFRES’s educational mission.
Forestry Training and Education
The Forestry Training and Education Fund supports training and education programs coordinated by the SFRES.
Forestry Building Operations
The Forestry Building Operations fund provides unrestricted use of funds for Forestry’s building and/or operations which were received after the matching funds requirement were met for the 1998 building construction.
Forest Resources & Environmental Science Operations
This fund provides unrestricted use of funds for Forestry Operations.
Forestry –SAF
This fund contributes to the SAF Chapter for student travel to the annual SAF conference and club-related activities.
Forestry—Semper Silvae
This fund provides for the Otter River Camp Restoration project.
Martin F. Jurgensen Teaching Excellence Award
Each year, an award will be made from this fund to one of the faculty members to help support our educational mission. It will be used to fund specific short course training, special equipment for classrooms, or visits to outside speakers to augment specific topics within a course.
Robert L. Adams Memorial Scholarship
The Robert L. Adams Memorial Scholarship provides financial support to students studying forestry. It is renewable up to 5 academic years and a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 must be maintained.
Arthur J. Dion Endowed Scholarship
The Arthur J. Dion Endowed Scholarship provides financial assistance to students at or entering the School. Recipients must be residents of the Upper Peninsula with demonstrated financial need. It is renewable as long as a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 is maintained.
Edward C. Henricksen Endowed Scholarship
The Edward C. Henricksen Endowed Scholarship provides financial assistance to students studying forestry and who are interested in the industrial segment. Recipients must be Michigan residents. It is renewable as long as a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 is maintained.
Gene Hesterberg Endowed Scholarship
The Gene Hesterberg Endowed Scholarship provides financial assistance to an upperclassman with sound academic performance, social and civic leadership, and participation in campus and professional affairs. It is renewable as a long as a 2.5 grade point average is maintained.
Charles & Patricia Nelson Endowed Scholarship
The Charles & Patricia Nelson Endowed Scholarship provides financial assistance to students at or entering the School. Recipients must be residents of Michigan with demonstrated financial need. It is renewable as long as a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 is maintained.
Professor U.J. Noblet Endowed Memorial Scholarship
The Professor U.J. Noblet Endowed Scholarship provides financial assistance to students studying Forestry. Recipients must be residents of the Upper Peninsula. It is renewable as long as a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 is maintained.
William Ruona Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The William Ruona Memorial Endowed Scholarship provides financial assistance to students studying Forestry with proven academic performance. Recipients must be from the Upper Peninsula. It is renewable as long as a cumulative 2.5 grade point average is maintained.
William Todd Endowed Scholarship
The William Todd Endowed Scholarship provides financial assistance to students at or entering the School. Preference is given—in order of priority—to students who attended Marquette Senior High School, to a student who attended high school in Marquette County, or to students who attended high school in the Upper Peninsula. Criteria require a demonstrated financial need and proven academic performance. The scholarship is renewable up to 4 academic years as long as a cumulative 3.0 grade point average is maintained.
Forest Resource & Environmental Science Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship assists students who are financially needy and/or academically deserving. The scholarship may be awarded to any undergraduate in the School on a renewable basis if a 2.5 grade point average is maintained for each academic year at Michigan Tech up to a maximum of 5 academic years. If no recipients are eligible using the award criteria or the names recipient(s) no longer remain(s) eligible, the remainder of the award or any prorated portion thereof will be returned to the principle.
Norm Sloan Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The Normal Sloan Memorial Endowed Scholarship provides financial assistance to a senior in the School. Service in the School and to the University and an interest in wildlife should be taken into consideration when selecting the recipient.
John C. Noblet Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The John C. Noblet Memorial Endowed Scholarship provides financial assistance to a sophomore forestry major. Recipients must be from the Upper Peninsula. It is renewable if a 2.5 grade point average is maintained.
Forestry Alumni Endowed Scholarship
The Forestry Alumni Endowed Scholarship provides financial assistance to an upperclassman in the School. It is renewable as a long as a 3.0 grade point average is maintained.
John B. & Mae M. Hakala Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The John B. & Mae M. Hakala Memorial Endowed Scholarship provides financial support to sophomore, junior, and senior students studying forestry or wildlife management in the School with proven academic performance. If no eligible students can be found the scholarship may be awarded to students studying biological sciences or nursing. The scholarship is renewable as long as a 2.5 grade point average is maintained.
Jacques & Vann Jorgensen Endowed Scholarship
The Jacques & Vann Jorgensen Endowed Scholarship provides financial support to forestry and wildlife ecology majors in the School. The scholarship is renewable.
Helmuth & Charlotte Steinhilb Endowed Scholarship
The Helmuth & Charlotte Steinhilb Endowed Scholarship provides financial support to students at or entering the School. Preference is given—in order of priority—to graduates of Jeffers High School, graduates of Houghton and Keweenaw County High Schools, graduates of the Upper Peninsula High Schools, or graduates of Michigan High Schools. It is renewable up to 5 academic years and a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 must be maintained.
C. Raymond Lowe Endowed Memorial Scholarship
The C. Raymond Lowe Endowed Memorial Scholarship provides financial support to support to students studying forestry or environmental engineering at Michigan Tech. Residents are required to come from middle Michigan or the Upper Peninsula. It is renewable up to 5 academic years and a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 must be maintained.
MTU Endowed Surveying Equipment Fund
James C. Lamy Endowed Scholarship
The James C. Lamy Endowed Scholarship provides financial support, in the form of awards of full-tuition, to students at or entering the School. Preference is given to a student entering as a freshman with a strong interest in forest management, demonstrated leadership, as well as sound academic performance; and are residents, in order of priority, of the state of Michigan, the Great Lakes region, or the US. If all the preceding criteria are equal in candidates, preference should be given to a student with financial need. The scholarship will be renewable up to four years provided the student maintains a minimum GPA of 2.5 for each academic year.
Loret Miller Ruppe International Endowed Graduate Scholarship
The Loret Miller Ruppe International Endowed Graduate Scholarship provides financial support to graduates students who participate in the Peace Corps and complete a master’s degree.

This fund provides financial assistance to graduate students.
MeadWestvaco Endowed Fellowship
The MeadWestvaco Endowed Fellowship provides financial support to a M.S. student providing research in areas beneficial to MeadWestvaco and the Upper Peninsula.
Master of Forestry Fellowship Fund
This fund provides assistance to Master of Forestry students.
Horner Hardwood Endowed Fellowship
The Horner Hardwood Endowed Fellowship provides financial support to first year M.S. or Ph.D. students with an interest in northern hardwood research. Candidates must submit grade transcripts, letters of recommendation, and a list of honors, awards, and research accomplishments. Emphasis is centered on both forest and management research in which the greatest gains in knowledge will be made. It is renewable if a 3.5 grade point average is maintained for each academic year and if in the opinion of the SFRES’s instructors, the recipient is performing at a satisfactory level and making a contribution to the School.
